Last year all the gifts I gave at Christmas were handmade. There were cookies, cordials, candies and about six different selections of herbal teas, which were the crowd favourite. As I am knee deep in re-arranging and de-cluttering my craft room, I thought this was quite appropriate to share :o)
1 cup Linden
1/2 cup Passionflower
2 1/2 cups Rose Petals
1/2 cup Lemon Balm
5 tbspn Elder Berries
3 tbspn Lavender Flowers
1 cup Chamomile
1/4 cup Elder Flowers
All of the ingredients included in this tea have relaxing properties that can help ease stress or insomnia, and the combination of herbs gives the tea a light, sweet flavour.
When making teas with ingredients such as rose petals and lavender flowers, it is important to ensure that you are using food grade, and not craft grade or those you would use for potpourri. Buy from someone like Austral Herbs who not only have an excellent selection, but also offer organic versions of many of their herbs.
To make, simply combine all the ingredients and store in an airtight container. Use at a rate of about a tablespoon per cup and let steep for a good five minutes before drinking.
